Funded Accounts for Swing Trading: Test the Holding Period Before the Profit Target
A swing strategy needs time to develop. If an account requires you to exit before that process is complete, even a profitable historical system may be a poor fit. Choose the funded-account structure around the actual holding period.

Check permissions across account stages
A rising equity-based loss floor can also interact badly with a position that temporarily gains and then retraces. Understand the precise calculation rather than assuming a stop that protects the original entry also protects account eligibility.
Build a sample trade timeline
Take one representative trade from your journal and map its life from entry to exit. Mark every overnight period, weekend, scheduled announcement and account reset that occurred while it was open. Then identify the account rule governing each point.
For example, an illustrative position opened on Wednesday and closed the following Tuesday may pass through several separate checks. Write down whether it can remain open at each boundary and what costs accrue. If any answer is unclear, obtain a written explanation before paying for the evaluation.
Measure frequency realistically
A strategy taking only a handful of trades per month should not be judged against a schedule that assumes daily entries. Calculate how long its ordinary frequency might take to satisfy the account’s activity conditions without adding low-quality trades. Consider a range rather than a guaranteed completion date.
Choose a structure that preserves the method
The evaluation should test a process you already understand. If qualifying requires artificially shortening holds, tightening every stop or creating extra trades, you are testing a different strategy. Compare the account rules with your historical execution and keep enough room for execution uncertainty. Patient trading works best when the account permits patience.
